Butterfly World seeks a Landscape Supervisor for the world's largest Butterfly and Bird Park. The successful candidate must possess good communication skills and plant knowledge. In addition, this candidate is comfortable working outdoors independently or as part of our team, maintaining landscaping and grounds in an attractive and healthy manner. This position involves a variety of horticultural, maintenance, and grounds development tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Ability to learn and accurately identify plant species.
• Water and care for varieties of flowers, plants, and trees.
• Water and apply fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides safely.
• Plant and prepare new areas for planting flowers, plants, and trees as needed.
• Maintain excellent work environment and practices to ensure the health of butterflies and birds.
• Operate power machinery as required.
• Pull weeds and trim trees.
• Work with department managers
• Coordinate schedules of and between various departments
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise and facilitate timely solutions
• Assist guests with plant-related questions and sales.
• Collect seeds at the appropriate time.
• Assist with general maintenance of facilities, equipment, and grounds.
• Work with other department managers.
• Ensure quality of experience and environment for all guests and staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Troubleshoot problems as they arise.
• Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of work experience in landscaping or grounds keeping.
• Knowledge and experience in irrigation systems.
• Strong leadership presence.
• Ability to switch gears and demonstrate self-control regardless of circumstance.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Must be in good physical condition.
• The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Bilingual is a plus but not required
