Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitors, directs and oversees department operations and is responsible for safety, efficiency and quality of the work performed by establishing and enforcing company standards 
  • Responsible for overall gross profit of the jobs, including hours, equipment & material budgets as well as overall department gross profit
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing of projects
  • Responsible for safety policy implementation. Ensures all accidents are properly documented and reported immediately.
  • Responsible for identifying labor and equipment needs in advance
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring/terminating and training employees; planning, assigning and overseeing work including management of crews, equipment, and project managers, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Provides leadership, training development and coaching of team members to ensure desired skill levels are reached.  Employees reach their full potential and company goals are met
  • Continual review and improvement of department’s processes and procedures
  • Partner with support departments to improve all aspects of the design/build process in order to reach higher performance goals and ensure future growth
  • Ensures jobs are kept on schedule and on budget
  • Continually informs and updates the Director of Operations and/or Senior Management as to job progress (or lack thereof), schedules and budgets
  • Continually coordinates with Supervisors as to job process (or lack thereof)
  •  Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  •  Assists in the development and implementation of the production part of company’s strategic plan.
  •  Assists in the development, implementation, and achievement of company’s annual budget goals.

Additional Duties

  • Responsible for initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation and teamwork within and between departments
  • Maintain regular contact with customers on status of projects; communicate and update so clients have no doubt that their project is receiving personal attention
  • Mediates customer concerns and contract disputes focusing on the customer 
  • Act as liaison between company and vendors
  • Promotes company culture and leads by example
  • Assists Director of Operations as needed


  •  Bachelor’s degree in landscape, construction or related field a plus
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in landscape, hardscape, irrigation and custom design/build construction, with supervisory oversight of employees
  • Oversees multiple design/build projects simultaneously
  • Communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, coaching, developing and building bench strength
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of personnel, vendors, customers
  • Reads blueprints and oversees installs of all plans
  • Accurately forecasts project schedule
  • Reads and comprehends financial statements
  • Conducts safety meetings with department team members; thorough knowledge of OSHA Laws
  • Be self-motivated and results-driven
  • Valid Drivers’ License and ability to be insured under Company Insurance Policy
  • Bilingual a plus, but not required
  • Microsoft Office
  • SAGE MasterBuilder/Contractor 100 experience a plus
