This position exists to assist with field work and conduct activities to manage, protect, sustain or enhance fisheries and aquatic resources in the Bemidji Fisheries Management Area (Beltrami and Clearwater Counties). Duties include: + Assist with fish propagation activities so production quotas are met and healthy sport fisheries are maintained in public waters. + Assist with various phases of fish rearing, harvest, and distribution activities so that optimum quality and quantity of fish are maintained in public waters. + Assist with the collection of physical, chemical and biological information on lakes and streams to be used in making fisheries management decisions. + Maintain and repair field equipment, fleet vehicles, area headquarters physical facility and fisheries owned/operated structures and properties so that management objectives can be carried out as efficiently as possible. **Minimum Qualifications** Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including digging, lifting, planting, shoveling, hauling, carrying, bending, pushing, climbing and walking on uneven terrain for extended periods of time in extreme weather and environmental conditions. Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work independently. Ability to withstand exposure to adverse weather and environmental conditions. Experience performing routine grounds maintenance utilizing riding mowers, weed-whips, etc. Ability to use a chainsaw for cutting small trees and clearing brush. Experience operating small equipment, various hand and power tools, outboard motors. Ability to safely perform boat trailering and backing/launching/loading. Ability to measure/record and accurately enter data onto paper and computer programs (water temperature, fish length and weight measurements, fish counts, time sheet data, etc.) and demonstrate attention to detail. Basic knowledge of fish management and common species identification. **Preferred Qualifications** Experience in fish culture, monitoring water quality and maintaining water flows, water temperatures and fish eggs. Experience with furbearer trapping. Experience in the use of various fish sampling techniques and equipment including but not limited to: gill and trap nets, seines, and backpack, barge, and boat electro fishers. Demonstrated thorough knowledge of fish biology and sampling (identification, requirements, techniques). Basic plumbing skills and experience performing routine maintenance on outboard motors, pumps, water filters, water heaters/chillers, and water delivery systems. **Additional Requirements** This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver's License with a clear driving record. Applicants must have the ability to meet the physical requirements and work in the environmental conditions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
