Job Summary

This is manual work involving working in a variety of weather conditions. Constant supervision is not necessary for routine and repetitive tasks, which can be carried on without difficulty once they are learned. The purpose of this position is to provide maintenance to the campus grounds. Uniforms will be provided by SGSC and must be worn at all times during work hours.

Responsibilities

Provide Care -

Provide care for campus grounds, including mowing lawns, watering flowers and shrubbery, trimming trees and bushes, installing plants, etc.

Operate Equipment -

Operate groundskeeping and maintenance equipment such as blowers, lawn mower, trimmer, and pressure washers, etc.

Special Events -

Sets up and take downs for student registrations, meetings, and other events.

Other Duties -

Cleans Fleet and may assist in performing maintenance tasks.

Moves furniture and equipment and performs related custodial work.

Other maintenance related duties.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

GED or High School Diploma.

Other Required Qualifications

Valid Driver's License

Required Experience

Previous experience working in the field of Landscaping.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

Two (2) years experience.

Proposed Salary

Salary commensurate with experience.

ABILITIES

Ability to exhibit a positive attitude and to deal with coworkers, students, faculty and staff tactfully and courteously in order to maintain effective service-oriented relationships.

Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet conditions.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the materials, methods, tools, and equipment employed in the maintenance and care of grounds.
