Job Description Summary:

Responsible for the maintenance and caring of the hospital grounds. Under the direct supervision of the Grounds Supervisor, responsible for maintaining and caring for the hospital grounds eight (8) hours a day, five (5) days a week. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Operates pavement sweeper over streets, garages and parking lots.

Operates riding and push lawnmowers and small tractor.

Applies herbicides to vegetation as necessary.

Prepares weeds and thins flowerbeds. Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.

Remove snow and ice from streets, sidewalks, and parking lots.

Ensures the campus remains clean by inspecting grounds routinely and collects trash found on grounds and the garages.

Power wash entrances as necessary.

Contributes to a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.

Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

High School diploma or equivalent

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION:

Must have a valid Tennessee State Driver's license.

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures as acquired through orientation.

Knowledge of landscaping of grounds and use of herbicides as acquired through experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to read, write, perform mathematical calculations, and follows technical procedures.

Completes mandatory on-line education annually.
