Overview

JOB PURPOSE

Under general supervision of the engineering manager, or their designated representative, responsible for the overall upkeep of all Casino premises in relation to the cleanliness, appearance, and the condition of landscaping, water features, decorative features and pool.

Responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds primarily surrounding the Tulsa Casino and the Central Services buildings: plants flowers, shrubs, and trees; mows, pulls weeds; repairs structures, irrigation systems. Picks up trash and maintains all areas outside of building, parking lots, parking garages, and fields associated with the operations, as well as doing light custodial work in the Central Services and Central Services Facilities buildings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Six months experience in lawn care, landscaping, farming, or outdoor construction required.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by Osage Nation.
  • Required to maintain a valid Driver's License.
  • Required to provide documents to show the applicant is eligible to work in the United States.
  • Osage, Native American, and Veteran preference shall apply to all positions at Osage Casinos.
  • Applicants must be able to perform all essential functions of job duties with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Pool maintenance and Certified Pool Operator certification preferred.
  • Must be able to work alone.

Responsibilities

COMMUNICATION:

  • Makes efforts to keep informed of company information and communications by reviewing property bulletin boards, digital signage, and company newsletter.
  • Effectively communicates concerns and information to supervisor and listens to communication from supervisor.
  • Effectively relates ideas for improvements to supervisor and management in accordance with chain of command.
  • Observes and reports any and all unsafe behavior displayed by internal and external guests.

DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS:

  • Primary Responsibilities:
  • Performs landscaping functions to include, but not limited to: transplanting, basic pest control, weed control, pruning and trimming, and other landscaping duties.
  • Performs light custodial duties to include cleaning restrooms, sweeping and mopping, and removal of trash from buildings.
  • Performs grounds keeping, building and parking lot maintenance and trash clean-up duties.
  • Performs irrigation system operation and maintenance, including but not limited to: zone testing, adjusting sprinklier heads, repairing or replacing spray and drip heads, repairing broken supply mains and branch lines, repairing or replacing control valves.
  • Maintains swimming pool, and water feature water quality by completing weekly cleaning, maintenance, and water testing, including but not limited to the operation of pumps, filtration systems, pool vacuum and chemical feed systems. Drains and refills swimming pool, and water features as necessary.
  • Handles and applies chemicals as required, i.e., fertilizer, pesticides, and chlorine/water chemicals safely, in coordination with training and MSDS label instructions.
  • Maintains and repairs tools and equipment typically associated with landscape and parking lot maintenance and repair.
  • Transports equipment to other properties.
  • Assists in all snow removal for all properties, including, but not limited to operating a truck mounted plow and spreader, manual snow removal equipment, manual salt spreading equipment.
  • Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
  • May be called on to help other trades as needed for general labor.
  • Removal equipment, weed trimmer, rakes, water filters, pool vacuum, power washer, power seam cleaner etc.

GUEST SERVICE:

  • Provides excellent internal and external guest services, treating all guests with courtesy and consideration at all times.
  • Cooperates and communicates with all employees, always exhibiting mutual respect and consistently projecting a positive, helpful image and attitude.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE:

  • Maintains excellent working relationships with other Company staff and all applicable regulatory commissions and other agencies as may be applicable to ensure compliance.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with company core values, objectives of the Osage Nation, internal policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and gaming regulations, including but not limited to, the state-tribal compact, IGRA, MICS, ONGR, the Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control, USA Patriot Act and Privacy Act

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is also regularly required to stand for extensive periods of time, walk, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must have ability to sit, stoop, kneel, crawl, balance, or crouch while performing duties.
  • Must have ability to use arms to reach and lift above shoulders.
  • Must have normal auditory and good verbal communication.
  • Must be able to endure heights.
  • Must have ability to lift upward, drag, push or pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to endure long periods of time in all weather conditions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is typically performed in an outdoor setting.
  • There is exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level.
  • Evening and weekend shifts may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required at short or no notice.
  • The employee is regularly exposed to risks associated with travel between properties and back and forth to other areas as may be required due to business demands.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, various dusts and mists, debris and hazards common at landscaping sites may occur while performing outdoor duties.
  • Prolonged standing and walking may be on uneven surfaces or unstable ground.
  • Employee may be exposed to chemicals and hazardous material.
  • The employee may be exposed to risks associated with the use of tools/machinery

  • Maintains knowledge of the principles and practices used in irrigation, planting, gardening and pool maintenance.
  • Maintains knowledge of occupational hazards, safe working practices, and safety precautions in accordance with applicable state, county, or federal laws and regulations regarding workplace safety.
  • Has skills in following diagrams for landscaping.
  • Has ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Operates and maintains various power tools, including, but not limited to, lawn mower, bed edger, blowers, chain saws, drills, saws, parking lot vacuum, snowplow, and salt spreader.
  • Operates and maintains hand tools, including but not limited to pruners, shears, shovels, picks, brooms, etc.
  • Operates and maintains company vehicles, heavy equipment and rolling stock, including but not limited to, boom lifts, forklifts, scissor lifts, skid loader and brush hogs dump trailers, pull-behind and goose neck trailers.
  • Has ability to load equipment onto trailers.
  • Has ability to safely transport typical landscape equipment to remote properties.
  • Ensures proper use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
