Groundskeeper (Full-Time and Year-Round)

The Groundskeeper is responsible for a variety of tasks to maintain and enhance the appearance and functionality of the golf course grounds. Including landscaping, turf management, equipment maintenance, and general upkeep to provide an exceptional experience for golfers and visitors.

Reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent.

Responsibilities:

• Mow, edge and fertilize grass on fairways, greens, tees and roughs to ensure optimal playing conditions. Perform aeration, topdressing, and overseeding as required.
• Plant, water and maintain plants, trees and shrubs throughout the golf course. Trim, prune, and remove debris to ensure a tidy and attractive landscape.
• Monitor and operate irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of the golf course. Adjust irrigation schedules and repair any malfunctions to maintain healthy turf and landscape.
• Identify and control pests, diseases, and weeds that may affect the health of the turf and landscape. Apply appropriate chemicals and pesticides following safety guidelines.
• Rake and maintain sand bunkers, ensuring proper sand levels and consistency for playability.
• Operate and maintain various equipment such as mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and power tools. Perform routine maintenance and report any equipment issues.
• Assist in setting up the golf course for daily play, tournaments and events. Mark hazards, tee placements, and hole locations as directed by the golf course superintendent.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the golf course facilities, including paths, cart storage areas, and maintenance buildings.
• Follow eco-friendly practices to promote sustainability and minimize the environmental impact of groundskeeping activities.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations while operating equipment and using chemicals. Ensure the safety of golfers, staff, and visitors at all times.

Qualifications:

• Must complete and obtain Iowa Pesticide Applicators License within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Reliable and dependable.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license with positive driving record required.
