ABOUT THIS JOB

Position Specific Summary

The Groundskeeper position at the City of Tucsons Parks and Recreation Department maintains the cleanliness, safety, and aesthetics of parks and recreational facilities.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Parks Maintenance Coordinator. This position does not supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs routine grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, pruning trees, and planting flowers. Operates and maintains groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Performs routine inspections by driving city vehicles to various parks to perform basic repairs of park equipment and amenities, including playground equipment, benches, fences, and irrigation systems. Maintains cleanliness by picking up litter, emptying trash receptacles, and cleaning restroom facilities.
  • Assists in special projects such as park renovations, event setup, and seasonal decorations. Collaborates with other team members to ensure efficient park operations.
  • Upholds safety standards and regulations while working in public areas by ensuring proper handling and storage of chemicals and equipment.
  • Provides friendly and informative assistance to park visitors by responding to inquiries and requests regarding park facilities and amenities.
  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Working Conditions

Indoor and outdoor work with some exposure to physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazardous environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience: No Experience
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
License/Certifications: Valid and Unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License - Arizona Department of Transportation - Motor Vehicle Division
