Groundskeeper

POSITION SUMMARY

The Groundskeeper is responsiblefor all aspects of the grounds and the equipment used to maintain a presentablegrounds appearance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assures that that the grounds are well groomed and free of trash, debris, and hazards
• Assures the walkways are clean and clear of hazards
• Trims, prunes, and shapes various trees, shrubs, and plants as directed by The Head Grounds Supervisor
• Maintains all lawns during the growing season to a height determined by The Plant Operations Director
• Maintains outside waterlines to protect from freezing
• Assists with maintenance of equipment
• Any job or task that benefits Christwood or its residents

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

• Doesspecial projects campus wide in the offseason to maintain specific areas of thecampus as directed by Head Grounds Supervisor
• Maintainsoutdoor signs, parking lot lines,
• Attendsin-service training and education sessions as assigned
• Embodies and exhibits the Christwoods iCARE principles in day to day operations: Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English
• Communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic
• One year experience in plant and/or residential maintenance required
• High school graduate or GED equivalent
• Must be able to operate lawn care equipment
  
• Ability to use general hand tools
• Ability to use power tools such as chainsaws and pressure washers

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Mustbe able to lift 100 pounds

Mustbe able to walk, stand, stoop, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time (upto 90% of the workday)

Mustbe able to set up, climb, and ascend ladders with tools and materials requiredto complete tasks

WORKING CONDITIONS

Worksprimarily outdoors, moderate to heavy physical effort required

Exposureto the elements (heat, cold, rain, and possible snow)

Exposureto chemicals related to maintenance of lawns and shrubs.

May be exposed to communicable diseases including HIV andHBV.
