Groundskeeper

and Duties The permanent/full time Groundskeeper will be directed by the Utility Shops Supervisor (Mechanical) in Plant Operations at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:

Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment associated with the Grounds Department
Has the physical agility to work on his/her hands and knees for a prolonged time, lift and carry a minimum of seventy pounds
Operates numerous types of equipment in the Grounds Department, such as: lawn mowers, sweepers, rototillers, tractors, aerators, edgers, weedeaters, etc.
Cleans and maintains shops and storage areas where equipment, materials and supplies are kept for daily operation
Maintains a working knowledge of current or new Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)/Safety Data Sheets(SDS)
Maintains an ongoing safety program on a daily basis pertaining to hazardous waste chemicals and materials used in the departments operation
Reads, understands and conforms to all Hospital Administrative Directives and Plant Operations policies
Maintains daily tool control procedures and instructs all concerned in proper tool control

Working Conditions This position requires you to work within the Secured Treatment Area (STA).
