The Organization is looking for a bright, energetic Groundskeeper/Porter one of our sites in the Bronx. Via Verde is an affordable, sustainable residential development providing healthy, urban living in the South Bronx.
The Groundskeeper/Porter will Maintain grounds of property and supports the site by performing duties that include:
Job Responsibilities
• Trimming and edging, pruning shrubs/trees
• Removing litter debris and refuse from designated courtyard areas
• Daily placement of outdoor furniture in courtyard and placing in storage at end of shift
• Snow removal from walks and driveways as directed by management
• Waters plants grass, flowers, trees, shrubs, and flower beds
• Cleaning out drainage ditches from designated areas
• Outdoor janitorial and maintenance work in designated courtyard areas
• Keeping the designated courtyard areas clean at all times
• Collecting and picking up litter, debris and brush from the designated grounds
• Clean all pedestrian surfaces and walls as designated by management
• Assist with maintaining main building lobby ensuring proper level of cleanliness
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed by management which can include cleaning of vacant apartments and assisting building Porters
Qualifications:
• Prior experience as Custodian and/or Porter
• Prior experience with landscaping/gardening/grounds keeping
• Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job
• Establish and maintain a high level of customer service.
Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
