As a City Service Worker, you will be responsible for performing various maintenance tasks to keep our city clean, safe, and attractive. You will work as part of a team to maintain streets, parks, public facilities, and other city properties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Street Maintenance: Perform tasks such as pothole repair, street sweeping, and snow removal.
- Park Maintenance: Maintain parks, playgrounds, and green spaces, including mowing, trimming, and landscaping.
- Facility Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance of public buildings, including cleaning, repairs, and minor construction.
- Equipment Operation: Operate various types of equipment, including mowers, tractors, and trucks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:45% (1) Perform various chemical tests and analysis required by federal and state regulatory agencies. Discover, excavate, assess and repair of all lines, mains, valves, and hydrants in the distribution system. Locate, excavate, assess and repair of all sewers, manholes in the sanitary sewer collection system. Read water meters to determine customer usage amount. Perform service calls. Inspect water service lines and sanitary sewer mains, service connections, service installation and prepare drawings for property files. Install water meters, service lines, main lines, main valves, curb boxes, fire hydrants and watch valves. Service and /or repair water meters, wiring, etc. connected for proper operation of meters.
40% (2) Perform maintenance and repair of city streets by patching, crack sealing, ditching, paving, rolling, etc. Repair and replace curbs and sidewalks as needed. Perform maintenance of public lands and buildings and associated appurtenances. Perform mowing of grass and weeds on public lands, including road right-of-way and other lands as directed. Perform street cleaning operations, including snow and ice removal and leaf pickup. Construct and erect street name, regulatory, and warning signs.
10% (3) Assist with work quantity estimating as requested. Assist in identifying needed parts and supplies for various areas of responsibility.
(4) Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications:
High school diploma or completion of equivalent (G.E.D.); six (6) months to one (1) years' experience in water distribution and/or street and infrastructure construction and maintenance required; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (*indicates developed after employment)
Must possess and maintain a valid Ohio driver's license, and must maintain insurability under the City's vehicle insurance policy; must have a commercial driver's license (CDL). *Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED certification through the American Red Cross (or equivalent), per City policy.
