JOB DESCRIPTION UPDATE: Manager is looking for someone with experience or with a degree in horticulutre. The team is comprised of three people who manage 180 acres so we need someone that comes with relevant knowledge and experience.

Groundskeeper
Position Overview :
General Mills is seeking a Groundskeeper who has a working knowledge of exterior plant care; provides a creative approach to design and execution of grounds projects including repairs and new installations; possess a good working knowledge of a large variety of grounds related equipment; and has working knowledge of irrigation infrastructure, operational optimization, and system controls. This position requires availably to work extended hours for spring and fall clean up and snow removal as needed to keep property and employees safe. Overtime could reach 10+ hours per week. A current driver license, in good standing, is required.
Key Accountabilties :
- Maintain grounds and property at two locations in Golden Valley, Minnesota.
- Operate equipment related to ground maintenance i.e. mowing, sweeping, blowing, digging, plowing, sanding, etc. based on seasonal needs.
- Care for a variety of plants.
- Maintaining safety on GMI property: Parking lots, ramps, roadways, emergency exits, & sidewalks.
Minimum Qualifications :
5-years of lawn care/maintenance and snow removal related experience
-OR-
New graduate with horticulture degree
Preferred Qualifications :
Horticulture degreed professional with experience
Additional Considerations :
Ability to operate a DOT-rated vehicle and trailer combination. No CMV license required.
Willing to work early mornings and weekends for snow removal
85% of work is outdoors and requires willingness and ability work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold) and varied weather conditions.
Physical requirements include but not limited to: being on your feet 4-6 hours per day, walking behind, pushing, carrying, or lifting various grounds equipment up to 55 lbs.
Flexibility to work on two separate General Mills sites and rotate jobs as needed.
The ability to communicate efficiently with all levels of personnel including team members, vendors, temporary employees, and leadership.Ability to prioritize and respond to multiple or urgent issues with calm presence.
Self-directed, reliable, and creative in solving grounds issues.
