The salary range for this position is $105,350.41 - $158,025.62.

Summary

The Senior Landscape Architect 1 is an industry leader that develops high quality, imaginative and practical landscapes, urban designs, and advanced design solutions for complex projects such as master plans, park plans, recreational facilities, roadways, parkways, hospitals, schools, land subdivisions, and commercial, industrial, and residential sites efficiently with little to no oversight from other licensed Landscape Architects. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic and have an appetite to apply innovative design concepts. They have excellent organizational and communication skills and mentor others with less experience to achieve excellent results. This person will quickly shift between detailed landscape design work and larger-scaled master planning work in a fast-paced professional environment. They are expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, seek guidance from more experienced members of the team, and provide useful feedback to others in an effort to build the team. Promoting landscape architecture work both within the company and to external clients is a core expectation with this position.

Software

Technical Expertise

  • Mastery of technical fundamentals
  • Provides technical solutions to the most complex challenges and guides others towards the same
  • Works with market sector leaders to advance technical skills within the team

Teamwork

Technical leader/mentor on large and complex projects with excellent communication skills. Answers questions from those with less experience and takes action based on the needs of the team.

Project Delivery

Leads the production of and provides quality control for the following:

  • Technical reports and memos
  • Master plan/land planning documents
  • Construction quantity calculations and cost estimates
  • Design documents and construction plans

Understanding Budget and Schedule

Strong understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets. Demonstrates ability to predict and deliver individual tasks within a set level of effort. Ability to consistently meet budget and schedule expectations on projects. Develops budgets and schedules for complex projects and breaks down complex projects into logical tasks. Demonstrates ability to prioritize multiple assignments to successfully deliver projects on time and on budget.

Industry Standards and Regulations

Expertly interprets, selects, and employs design codes. Actively mentors others on interpreting design codes. Understands limitations of design codes and when deviation from design codes is appropriate. Actively mentors others in design code deviations and interpretation. Mentors others in developing and applying construction details relevant to landscape architecture.

Client Interaction

Frequent direct communications with clients on large and complex projects. Leads technical and business development-related client meetings. Understands appropriate messaging and legal risks. Engages as industry expert on complex projects and pursuits. Leads technical aspects of project interviews.

Level of Work/Accountability

Efficiently performs the most technically complex and demanding technical work without supervision. Reviews the work of others and mentors others on complex project tasks. May also perform project management duties as needed.

Supervisory Duties

May be a supervisor:

  • Oversees team operations and the daily workflow of the team
  • Organizes workflow and ensures that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
  • Recruits and hires new employees
  • Implements training for new hires and identifies training opportunities for current staff
  • Communicates information from leadership to employees and vice versa
  • Monitors employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching
  • Sets goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company's plans and vision and communicates them to employees
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Decides on reward and promotion based on performance

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Years of experience required: 15 years
  • Years of experience required with advanced degree: 14 years
