Groundskeeper (Part-Time)

Description

Kirtland Community College is looking to add a dedicated Groundskeeper to our Facilities team.

This is a part-time position that will be scheduled no more than 28 hours per week.

Duties

• Performs general grounds maintenance such as cutting grass, trimming and pruning trees and shrubs, spraying for disease and insect control, and applying fertilizer.

• Ability to safely and effectively operate heavy machinery such as forklift, tractors, mowers, front end loaders, trailers, water tanks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and pickup trucks.

• Assists with landscaping tasks such as planting bushes, shrubs, and trees; weeding of newly landscaped areas; and spreading of landscaping of materials such as bark or rocks.

• Performs minor repairs on groundskeeping equipment.

• Empty campus trash containers; rakes and disposes of leaves and debris from college campus.

• Removes snow and ice from the campus and spreads salt during the winter months.

• May be required to perform the duties of the utility worker as required by the administration to meet the needs of the college.

• Performs other related tasks as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.

• Up to one year related groundskeeping experience, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position.

• Ability to operate heavy equipment.

• Ability to make minor repairs on mechanical equipment.

• Ability to work independently to perform assigned duties.

• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.

• Valid driver's license.
