Park Maintenance Crew Leader

This position is responsible for the supervising and participating in the work of a crew of personnel engaged in the maintenance of parks facilities and grounds.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Develops daily work plans for crew personnel.
• Supervises and participates in the preparation and maintenance of athletic facilities and surfaces.
• Supervises and participates in the maintenance of parks grounds and landscaping.
• Supervises and participates in the maintenance of buildings, structures, and fences.
• Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems.
• Supervises and assists in park improvement projects.
• Inspects park grounds and facilities to identify maintenance and repair needs.
• Coordinates the purchase of tools, materials and equipment.
• Maintains a variety of grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, bush hog, top dresser, box blade pulverizer, etc.
• Maintains chemical application records.
• Repairs and maintains small engines.
• Performs related duties.

• Knowledge of building maintenance methods and practices.
• Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of chemical application guidelines.
• Knowledge of grounds and sports field maintenance principles.
• Skill in the training and supervision of personnel.
• Skill in operating a variety of grounds maintenance equipment.
• Skill in directing the maintenance of facilities and grounds.
• Skill in operating hand and power tools.

• Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid drivers license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
