Position Description & Details:
As a Grounds Maintenance Worker at Bismarck State College, you will play a vital role in maintaining the general care and upkeep of our campus grounds. We are seeking individuals who are dedicated, skilled, and knowledgeable in outdoor maintenance tasks, from snow removal to landscaping. If you have a passion for keeping outdoor spaces beautiful and functional, we encourage you to apply.
- Operate light equipment such as Bobcats, sweepers, brooms, shovels, and snow blowers for snow removal during winter months.
- Assist in building maintenance tasks, including moving furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Perform grass mowing, tree trimming, fertilizing, weed eating, landscaping, and underground sprinkler repair.
- Plant, fertilize, spray, water, prune, seed, propagate, and cultivate grasses, flowers, bushes, trees, and other plants and shrubbery.
- Execute other duties as required or assigned to maintain the campus grounds in optimal condition.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Continuously - 66-100% - Use hands dexterously, talk or hear.
- Frequently - 34-65% - Stand, walk, sit.
- Occasionally - 1-33% - Reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop/kneel/crouch or crawl, or lift 50 pounds to more than 100 pounds.
HAZARDOUS WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work may include exposure to hazards, which could result in physical injury. Extreme temperatures in winter or summer, and heavy lifting.
- Must observe established safety practices and procedures in working with chemicals, materials, and equipment.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Possession of a valid Class D driver's license.
- Knowledge of outside maintenance tasks, including snow removal, grounds keeping, mowing, weed removal, basic landscaping, etc.
- Working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in general grounds maintenance.
- Ability to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance work on grounds equipment.
