Job Summary:
This position is responsible for performing general grounds keeping and other duties necessary to maintain the appearance of the Jackson campus.

Essential Job Duties:

• Maintain grounds in summer: mow and fertilize lawns; plant grass, irrigation, spraying of weeds, and fertilize trees and shrubs; remove weeds and brush using power equipment, and so forth.
• Maintain grounds in winter: remove snow and ice from parking lots and sidewalks, using shovels, salt and sand, and related equipment or products.
• Perform other seasonal grounds work: rake leaves, sweep sand, put protective coverings over shrubs, etc.
• Perform pesticide and weed control application, control and reporting requirements.
• Maintain tools and equipment used in grounds work.
• Pick up trash around buildings and empty trashcans. Maintain clear sidewalks. Operate a leaf blower on walkways and around buildings.
• Assist with basic construction tasks related to grounds maintenance (planting beds, cement work, fence and sign installation, etc.).
• Water plants and flowerbeds.
• Other duties as assigned.

Other Job Duties:

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in grounds keeping.
