The Village of Oregon (population 12,441), located 6 miles south of Madison, Wisconsin, is seeking a motivated and talented individual to help maintain our Village Parks and open spaces. The Parks Crew Person is a full-time position with great benefits and the ability to grow professionally over time. The Village of Oregon has invested over $8 million in the past 4 years into our park system, creating incredible parks and destination facilities.

Position Summary

Qualified candidates should have a strong knowledge and background in turf management, playing field maintenance, and park operations. The duties include supervising park maintenance activities, sports field maintenance, conducting park inspections, mowing activities, operating irrigation systems, and other daily tasks associated with the parks system. This person also supports other activities as needed in Public Works.

Salary Information

Hourly wage range for this position is: $23.81 - $28.43 per hour dependent on experience and training. The Village offers a generous full benefit package that includes family health insurance, vacation, annual floating holidays, 10 paid holidays, sick leave, uniform allowance, and Wisconsin Retirement System.

Job Details

Regular work schedule is 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. on Fridays. Candidates must have the ability to pass an in-depth background check by the Village of Oregon Human Resources Department.

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates should possess a High School graduate, a GED, or any equivalent combination of related education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Candidates must have a valid Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Operator's License, and must either have a Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B/C or be able to obtain one within 18 months of hire.
  • Candidates should be able to handle a busy work environment, multi-task on projects, and work collaboratively as part of a team.
