SummaryA landscape spray technician is responsible for the application of fertilizers and herbicides within the parks system, along rural roadsides, and other City properties that require treatment. Able to obtain or has a current license with the Texas Department of Agriculture chemical applicator's license appropriate for non-commercial.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs the chemical and fertilizer applications at assigned propertiesMonitors landscape health and care needsMeasures out the proper amount of chemicals for different applications and applies treatment as neededOperates, maintains, and cleans chemical application equipmentCreates and maintains records of all chemical applicationsFollows all state guidelines for chemical application, handling, and storageMaintains adequate inventory of all needed suppliesFollows spray schedule and assists with the updates on the scheduleContinues to take education courses necessary to keep license current and submit renewal documentation as required by the stateSupports special events, both City and private, and assists with the staging, set up and take downEnsures safety procedures are followed on the job siteFollow all safety policies and proceduresPerforms other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalentWorking knowledge of chemical and fertilizer applications to landscape areas
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of experience with chemical and/or fertilizer applications including equipment calibration and use, reading labels and calculating correct application rates
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Texas Department of Agriculture non-commercial applicators license or ability to obtain license within six months of employmentValid driver's licenseCDL (preferred)
