We're looking for a dependable and skilled Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician to help keep our facility operating safely, efficiently, and at the highest standards.

About the Role

The Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, functionality, and appearance of KanPak's buildings and surrounding grounds. This role involves skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work across multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and groundskeeping.

You'll work with a high level of independence while coordinating closely with Engineering and Capital Project leadership to support food safety, regulatory compliance, and facility reliability.

What You'll Do

Main Functions:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on buildings, roofs, siding, walls, flooring, and exterior surfaces

  • Complete interior and exterior painting projects as needed

  • Repair and patch flooring to maintain safe walking surfaces

  • Remove snow and apply salt to roadways, walkways, and access points

  • Perform minor electrical repairs, including:

  • Wall switches and outlets

  • Light fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, sockets, and fuses

  • Minor appliances and cords

  • Perform minor plumbing repairs, including:

  • Fixing faucet and drain leaks

  • Unclogging drains

  • Trenching and laying small utility lines

  • Replace HVAC filters and clean exhaust fans

Responsibilities Related to the Job:

Coordinate GSF Quality activities and operations to meet objectives for quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, cost, safety, and customer satisfaction at KanPak.

Participate in formulating and administering division's short- and long-range goals and objectives for business growth.

Equipment & Tools

  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, mowers, loaders, and snow plows
  • Estimate time and materials needed for maintenance and repair tasks

Other Responsibilities

  • Work flexible hours as required to support facility needs
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information
  • Perform other related maintenance duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license (must be maintained)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices

Preferred Experience

  • 1+ year of building and grounds maintenance experience
  • Food manufacturing or food industry experience (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficiency with hand and power tools (saws, drills, grinders, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.)
  • Experience operating forklifts and lift equipment
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and accountable
  • Team-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and pride in work

The Schedule and Setting:

Pay Range (Base Pay): $22/hour

Days: Tuesday-Friday 10hr Shift or Monday-Thursday 10hr Shift

Shift: 6a-4p

Work Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to distinguish colors, sounds, and smells as required for safety and maintenance tasks
