SEASONAL LANDSCAPE AND GROUNDS Maintenance HELPER

Part-time position available. Hours: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm (varied weekdays)

Performs routine grounds keeping for County buildings.

Job Responsibilities:

• Cuts lawn using hand, power or riding mower; trims and edges around walks, flower beds, walls, etc.
• Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs; prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth.
• Sprays lawns, trees and shrubs with fertilizers and insecticides.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of responsible experience in grounds keeping; or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience knowledge of grounds keeping equipment and landscaping.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics.
• Must possess a valid Illinois Driver's License.
• Be able to walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, and hear.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.

Pay Range: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour.
