Job Summary:
About the Role
Support the care and upkeep of campus grounds through turf maintenance, snow removal, landscaping, and seasonal projects. This hands-on role operates a variety of equipment while helping maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across campus year-round.
Job Duties/What You'll Do
- Turf Care - 50%
Responsible for the welfare of turf on the main campus as well as the athletic fields and other campus property as directed. This includes completing or supervising:
seeding/patching,
watering,
picking up leaves and debris,
using various lawn maintenance equipment, including:
large riding lawn mowers,
push mowers, and
string trimmers.
Lawn watering and irrigation
Assist with monitoring conditions of lawn, turf and landscape planting areas and establish appropriate schedules and levels of watering
Assist with maintenance and installation of irrigation systems as needed to maintain an appropriate program of lawn irrigation
Snow Removal & Parking Lot Maintenance- 20%
Operation of large wheel loaders
Operation of sidewalk snow broom
Operation of snow blowers
Operation of small loaders and other miscellaneous equipment
Operation of sand spreader
Operation of deicing equipment
Performing hand operations as necessary
Drive large trucks to haul snow
Overall parking lot and sidewalk cleaning and snow removal on outlying areas
Cleaning parking lots
Replacing parking bumpers
Cleaning catch basins
Flower & Landscape Beds - 10%
Perform seasonal shrubbery bed preparation and cleanup
Assist with planting and maintaining flower beds
Assist with landscaping projects as needed involving both hand and machine operations
Miscellaneous Work - 20%
Setup barricades for special events
Brush hauling and clean up work
Help on other grounds operations as needed
Tree Trimming
Assist in mechanical repairs as needed
Service and inspect machines used
Assist with sprinkler system repair
Herbicide Application

Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
- Ability to operate various types of equipment
- Ability to obtain a medical card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of horticulture
- Working knowledge of irrigation systems
- Chemical application knowledge and experience
