POSITION SUMMARY:

To maintain floors and to assist with providing maintenance to the Hospital District Facilities. Responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface (stripping, waxing, and buffing) of areas that include offices, patient/resident rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and other public areas such as cafeterias. Seasonal maintenance and landscaping duties of Hospital District facility grounds. Other required general maintenance duties may be assigned.

Schedule: Evenings/nights, and weekends, specific hours TBD with Maintenance Director

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains clean, safe, and well-presented interior spaces, including floors in patient care areas, corridors, offices, and public spaces using specialized floor care equipment.

Supports a safe and healing environment by ensuring facility interiors are functional, sanitary, and compliant with hospital standards.

Performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections on maintenance and floor care equipment prior to use.

Adheres to all safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements, including proper use of PPE and approved procedures in patient care environments.

Secures work areas and posts appropriate safety signage to protect patients, staff, and visitors from potential hazards.

Responds promptly to interior maintenance needs, including minor repairs such as light bulb replacement and other basic facility upkeep.

Assists with maintaining the appearance, safety, and accessibility of hospital grounds, including mowing, trimming, watering, and general landscape care.

Ensures outdoor areas, walkways, and entrances are safe, clean, and welcoming for patients, visitors, and staff.

Removes snow and ice from sidewalks, entrances, and parking areas and apply salt or deicer to maintain safe access during inclement weather.

Safely operates, cleans, and maintains tools and equipment used for both interior maintenance and grounds care.

Demonstrates professionalism, respect, and sensitivity when working in patient and public areas to minimize disruption to care and services.

Attends required training, safety briefings, and mandatory meetings to remain compliant with healthcare policies and regulatory standards.

Maintains reliable attendance and punctuality to support 24/7 healthcare operations.

Performs other duties as assigned to support facility operations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Current valid Driver's License

Knowledge of cleaning equipment and floor maintenance equipment.

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of general maintenance and repair procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of how to strip, wax and burnish floors with minimal to no assistance.

Operating knowledge of common hand/power tools, yard tools and motorized equipment such as a hammer, pliers, lawn mower, etc.

A good working knowledge of taking care of plants such as planting, fertilizing, watering, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures for a wide variety of hospital district equipment, utilities, and building problems. Must possess mature judgement and skill in dealing with employees and public while maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality with information obtained in the performance of duties. Detail oriented.
