We're looking for an Early Career Environmental Planner to help lead fast-paced utility infrastructure projects that enable our clients to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving world. In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering planning and permitting solutions for energy maintenance and replacement projects across California. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, partner closely with clients, and help guide projects from strategy through executionall while contributing to safer infrastructure, healthier communities, and protection of natural resources. Location: Northern California (Bay Area or Sacramento preferred) with flexible remote work options. What You'll Do Lead and support environmental planning and permitting strategies for utility projects Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring high-quality deliverables Collaborate with client technical leads and cross-functional teams Organize, analyze, and communicate complex technical information clearly Mentor and support team members while strengthening your own leadership skills Bachelor's Degree or higher in Urban, Regional or Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or other related technical area Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team to prepare environmental documentation for fast-paced utility projects Ability to foster relationships with large project teams, clients, client contractor staff, and third-party consultants Ability to work in the Bay Area or Sacramento area, with travel occasionally to the client office and project sites within the state for planning reviews. Ideally, You'll Also Have: 0-2 years of experience coordinating and leading tasks and deliverables with multiple technical leads and stakeholders Previous experience providing land planning and permitting support/coordination for linear utility projects in California. Previous experience attending field meetings and an understanding of general Health and Safety protocols/requirements for engaging in field work. A proven track record of exceeding client expectations regarding deliverable quality while keeping an eye on schedule and budget. Ability to represent Jacobs during project meetings (in person field meets and conference calls) in order to provide status updates, track action items, and identify potential risks to project schedules. Ability to read, understand and summarize technical documents on multiple subject areas Understanding of linear utility construction methods, and planning and permitting in California Experience supporting projects during CEQA/NEPA processes and resource agency permitting Ability to provide quality control of self-produced work products, including close attention to detail in order to ensure deliverables are prepared according to Jacobs' and clients' high standards Strong self-starter with ability to balance work on multiple projects simultaneously Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills, particularly in a remote work setting Experience with GIS, kmz files (Google Earth), and informational databases. Experience and poise handling public involvement, agency coordination, and communication with clients, stakeholders and professionals.
