South College Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Maintenance Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising and evaluating custodial staff to ensure efficient, thorough, and high-quality cleaning and maintenance across all facilities, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Developing and implementing schedules for regular and preventative maintenance tasks, including advanced cleaning, floor maintenance, and sanitation processes.
  • Conducting routine and detailed inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and compliance with health standards.
  • Coordinating and performing advanced maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, and HVAC troubleshooting.
  • Overseeing groundskeeping projects to ensure lawns, gardens, walkways, and outdoor spaces are maintained to high aesthetic and functional standards.
  • Managing inventory control of maintenance and custodial supplies, ordering materials in a timely manner to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Leading emergency response actions related to facility maintenance, ensuring rapid resolution of issues such as leaks, power outages, or equipment failures.
  • Training custodial and maintenance staff in the safe and effective operation of specialized maintenance equipment.
  • Managing building security protocols, including oversight of locks, alarms, and access control systems to ensure facility security at all times.
  • Coordinating logistics and facility arrangements for special events, meetings, and functions.
  • Collaborating directly with the Director of Maintenance on strategic planning, budget management, and execution of large-scale maintenance projects.
  • Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and expenditures.
  • Performing additional tasks consistent with senior-level responsibilities to enhance overall facility operations and management.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication often in stressful?situations involving students or co-workers
  • Fast-paced work environment requiring quick adaptation skills in a changing strategic and tactical workplace
Requirements

Experience

  • Appropriate Knowledge and Skills for job responsibilities
  • Prior experience with building maintenance and oversight
  • Experience with project management preferred
