Peckham Diversified - Greenhouse Worker SUMMARY The Revolution Farms Greenhouse Worker is responsible for monitoring plant health and performing regular growing maintenance duties. These include all steps of plant cultivation, cleaning equipment and growing areas, maintaining proper operation of growing systems, and pest control as directed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor and manage plant health daily to ensure optimal growth, under the direction of the Horticulture Manager and Technicians Cultivate plants according to established protocols and production schedules Maintain and repair greenhouse equipment to support efficient growing Properly organize and care for tools and equipment used in growing operations Gather plant, media, and water samples for laboratory analysis Ensure fertilizer stock tanks are replenished as needed Seed plug trays and transfer germinated trays to growing areas Clean and sanitize growing areas and equipment Scout for pest infestations and disease infections Apply pest and disease control methods as directed by the Horticulture Manager and Technicians Comply with all written Good Manufacturing and Agricultural Practices (GMPs/GAPs) at all times, including but not limited to, personal clothing, personal items, personal hygiene, food safety attire, and proper food handling and sanitation Complete required logs and records for regulatory and operational purposes Complete all required Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), including beginning and end of day, and ongoing throughout shift Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with company standards Participate in team meetings and training sessions Communicate effectively with other Team Members and Staff Contribute positively to team goals and maintain a collaborative work environment Other related duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS At least 18 years old Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English in order to follow cleaning schedules, safety guidelines, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and complete logs accurately Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds on a frequent basis Access to reliable transportation Grasping, sorting, handling, lifting, bending, crouching, twisting, standing, walking, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling Repetitive motions, eye/hand/foot coordination, machine operation, handling tools, sweeping, mopping, and similar motions Ability to work independently Ability to work in an environment with extreme temperatures ranging from 37F to 110F PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Attention to detail Strong organizational and planning skills Problem solving skills Ability to work in a team environment Ability to multi-task and prioritize work Basic math skills Ability to operate a pallet jack and maneuver loads weighing up to 1,000 pounds PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to agricultural and sanitation chemicals and occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. Employees may also experience exposure to extreme temperatures, atmospheric conditions, noise, odors, and vibration. The work environment frequently involves limited natural light, artificial lighting, and occasional contact with cleaning agents, dust, and allergens. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will work in environments ranging from a climate-controlled Packing Cooler with temperatures around 36F to greenhouses in the summer with temperatures up to 110F.The facility uses sanitizing footbath mats throughout, which require the ability being able the ability to step in and out of the tray, over a 2.5 raised tray edge. Person needs to have the ability to ask questions and voice concern in relation to work and work environment.
