Pay Rate: $17.25 per hour

Hours: Generally, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM including weekends (flexible) | Immediate start available

Job Overview:

The Deerfield Park District is hiring part-time and seasonal Groundskeepers for the Parks Department. If you're a self-motivated and responsible individual who enjoys working outdoors, this is a great opportunity! Join our team to help maintain and enhance our parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, and landscape areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain swimming pool equipment, including pumps, chlorination, and filtration systems.
• Monitor pool functions, ensure water quality, and perform cleaning tasks like vacuuming and maintaining filter baskets.
• Follow instructions for chemical use and perform custodial duties.
• Perform general maintenance of park grounds, buildings, athletic fields, playgrounds, and shelters.
• Mow, trim, aerate, irrigate, over-seed, and install sod for turf maintenance.
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and small hand tools.
• Repair and install fences, picnic tables, benches, and playground equipment.
• Remove garbage, debris, and snow from park areas, shelters, and pathways.
• Assist with special event setup and takedown.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Preferred experience working with pools, but training provided; must quickly adapt and learn new skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of landscaping equipment and safety procedures preferred.
• Must be able to work weekends.
