Job Summary
The Water & Irrigation Supervisor plays a critical role in managing and maintaining all irrigation systems throughout the golf course, common areas, and landscaped portions of the private residential community. This position ensures optimal turf and landscape health through efficient water use, preventive maintenance, and prompt system repairs while upholding the standards of a premier private club environment.
Day-to-Day
- Operate, monitor, and adjust central irrigation control systems to deliver efficient and consistent watering schedules across golf course, club facilities, and community common areas.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on pumps, valves, sprinkler heads, controllers, and mainlines.
- Troubleshoot and repair irrigation issues promptly to minimize disruption to play and appearance.
- Coordinate watering needs in collaboration with golf course and landscape teams, adapting based on seasonal changes, weather conditions, and member events.
- Maintain compliance with local water use regulations and environmental best practices.
- Track water usage and maintain accurate records of system adjustments, repairs, and upgrades.
- Lead and train any assigned irrigation staff or seasonal workers.
- Communicate effectively with golf, landscaping, and facilities teams to ensure a seamless member and resident experience.
- Participate in irrigation planning for capital improvement projects and renovations.
About You
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing and maintaining irrigation systems in a golf or large-scale residential community setting.
- Familiarity with central control systems such as Rain Bird or Toro.
- Working knowledge of irrigation hydraulics, electrical troubleshooting, and water conservation techniques.
- Strong attention to detail, proactive mindset, and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to read site and system maps, and perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate across departments and with residents when necessary.
- Valid driver's license required; irrigation technician certification preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Requires lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and walking long distances.
- May require early morning, weekend, and emergency on-call availability depending on operational needs.
