JOB TITLE: Groundskeeper Full Time Job Purpose and Statement/s: Under the supervision of superintendent/principal or designee the Full Time Groundskeeper is responsible for providing an attractive, safe, and natural environment in which students and staff can learn and further enhance a positive image of the assigned site. Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain an inventory of needed supplies and submit a written request for
supplies as needed.
- Implement grounds plan that ensures thorough cleaning and maintenance of all assigned
areas.
- Provide a clean, safe environment for students and staff.
- Understand grounds maintenance equipment, use of fuel, water.
- Perform minor repairs to facilities as required.
- Ensure grounds are secured at the end of a work shift.
- Perform such other miscellaneous school duties as may be assigned.
- Maintain and care for school grounds, in such a way as to promote a positive and healthy
climate for students and staff.
- Prepare seeding or transplanting beds by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals,
as needed.
- Plant seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings, and shrubbery so that resulting growth will produce
attractive appearance upon request.
- Prune trees and trims hedges of assigned area to promote growth and improve appearance
and maintains such equipment.
- Maintain lawns of assigned area, so as to, present a well kept healthy environment that is
conducive to a positive climate for students and staff. Including the following:
- Mow lawns with hand or power mower and maintains such equipment.
- Connect sprinkling equipment and waters lawn and flower beds. Irrigate whenever necessary to promote healthy grounds.
- Collect grounds materials and refuse for disposal on a regular basis.
- To assist wherever and however necessary during any emergency that would require
evacuation from building and possibly from grounds to homes. Other Job Functions: Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Job Requirements Qualifications: Experience Required: Prior job related experience. Skills, Knowledge and / or Abilities Required: Skill to operate hand and power tools related to grounds work. Knowledge of minor repairs, safe working methods and procedures. Ability to learn new skills related to the maintenance of a sanitary and attractive campus. Ability to speak read and write in the English language at the level necessary to communicate with other staff and students correctly and efficiently. Working Conditions:

Education Required: High School diploma; or equivalent. License, Certifications, Bonding, and /or Testing Required: Department of Justice fingerprint clearance. Valid drivers Licenses, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance. E.O.E.
