We are currently assisting our client, a private family office, with their search for a Sr. Horticulturalist/Groundskeeper . Purpose of role: We are seeking a trustworthy, experienced, and detail-oriented Sr. Groundskeeper to manage and maintain the grounds of a private family estate with multiple residences in Scottsdale Arizona. This role requires expertise in desert landscaping, low-water-use plant care, and maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of several distinct outdoor spaces across the estate. A successful candidate will take pride in creating and preserving elegant, serene, and sustainable outdoor environments tailored to the unique Arizona climate. The estate is located on an equestrian property. While equine experience is not required, basic knowledge of an equestrian facility is a plus. This role will require evening and weekend work at times and confidentiality and discretion are of paramount importance. Key Responsibilities: Maintain all landscaped areas across the estate, including gardens, turf maintenance, courtyards, walking paths, patios, and poolside areas. Plant, prune, and care for native desert plants, trees, and ornamental shrubs suited to the region's arid conditions. Design, install, and maintain seasonal planting for beds and pots. Inspect and maintain drip irrigation systems for efficiency and water conservation; troubleshoot and repair as needed. Manage composting, mulching, and soil health across the property. Ensure all outdoor spaces are safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing for family members and guests. Monitor plant health and pest activity; using regenerative practices and apply treatments when necessary (organic preferred). Maintain outdoor lighting, fountains, garden decor, and other hardscape features. Coordinate with vendors or contractors for major tree work, irrigation upgrades, or special projects. Prepare the estate grounds for private events or seasonal transitions. Keep detailed maintenance logs and recommend improvements to the Estate Manager. Oversee indoor plant maintenance and health with vendor support. Required Experience and Education: 7+ years of landscaping or estate gardening experience with high end residential or estate properties. Agricultural degree desired. Solid knowledge of Arizona native plants, drought-tolerant species, Xeriscaping and sustainable landscaping practices. Experience with outdoor lighting, irrigation controllers, and general garden maintenance tools. Self-motivated and able to work independently while following homeowner preferences. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in extreme heat conditions. Valid driver's license and ability to clear an intensive background investigation.
