RequirementsWhat Success Looks Like
- Supervise and coordinate a crew in the accurate installation of sod, including seam alignment, soil preparation, and edge finishing to achieve seamless lawn coverage
- Lead site grading and bed preparation for plantings, ensuring proper drainage and soil stability prior to sod or planting work
- Manage hardscape tasks such as laying pavers, building retaining walls, and installing decorative stone that complement sod areas
- Conduct post-installation inspections to verify sod rooting, identify low spots, and address any gaps or settling issues
- Ensure each service vehicle departs the yard stocked with rolls of sod, soil amendments, tools, and safety equipment
- Operate essential machinery including sod cutters, skid-steers, and edgers, performing routine maintenance and reporting repair needs
- Hold daily safety briefings and enforce best practices to protect crew members and client properties
- Train crew members in Loving Companys sod installation standards, quality benchmarks, and efficient work sequences
- Complete and submit daily work orders, track material usage, and assist with permit filings to maintain accurate records and invoicing
- Collaborate with Field Management on schedule planning, material procurement, and client communications to keep projects on time and within budget
- Remain on call for weather-related adjustments or emergency sod repairs to uphold our commitment to pristine landscapes
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned that support the mission and core values of The Loving Companies, ensuring alignment with our culture of community, integrity, and impact
What Sets You Apart
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in landscape installation with a strong emphasis on sod work and site preparation
- Valid drivers license and ability to pass an MVR check, DOT medical examination, and pre-employment drug screening
- Proven ability to lead small crews, assign tasks effectively, and maintain high standards of workmanship
- Proficiency with essential landscaping equipment such as sod cutters, skid-steers, power edgers, and hand tools
- Solid understanding of grading principles, soil science, irrigation basics, and hardscape construction techniques
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate daily activities, provide clear instructions, and maintain client relationships
- Strong organizational skills to manage materials, equipment, and documentation for multiple job sites
- Commitment to enforcing safety protocols, conducting daily briefings, and ensuring a hazard-free work environment
- Physical stamina and reliability to begin work at 6:00 AM and perform outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions
- Flexible attitude to accommodate schedule adjustments, weekend emergency calls, and evolving project demands
