QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Clear and valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Driver’s requirements.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
  • Able to operate all lawn and grounds equipment safely and correctly, including tractors and landscaping equipment.
  • Knowledge of painting and lining athletic fields.
  • Ability to manage other employees effectively.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff members, Athletic Department staff, coaches, school administrators, maintenance personnel, and the public.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in settings requiring frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, heavy lifting, and carrying.
  • Ability to work in settings requiring working outside and indoors, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and ladders.
  • Ability to work in settings with exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, cleaning chemicals, and materials.
  • Ability to operate a desktop computer such as logging into the system, entering basic information, and completing online learning and development training.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in CFISD Grounds Department or related employment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

260 days

SALARY/PAYGRADE:

$15.00/HS-3

Salary (based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1. Responsible for all duties of the Groundskeeper.
    2. Responsible for the lawn maintenance and upkeep of assigned areas within the Berry Center Complex. (Ex: mowing, edging, blowing, tree & shrub trimming, leaf raking, mulching)
    3. Daily ground check of complex for trash or other debris.
    4. Weekly maintenance on all lawn equipment. (Ex: grease, oil check, check mowing blades, belts, tires, etc…)
    5. Turn in work orders for equipment repair or work needed at the complex.
    6. Coordinate the day for other workers if located within the Berry Center Complex.
    7. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
    8. Mow and detail all Venue complex grounds, parking lots and athletic fields.
    9. Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds. Plant shrubs and vegetation.
    10. Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.
    11. Water grounds and apply fertilizer.
    12. Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from venue complex grounds.
    13. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
    14. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
    15. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately.
    16. Help keep vehicles, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
    17. Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
    18. Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills. The position will require completing Kulture City training.
    19. Assist with cleaning and maintenance throughout the facility, keeping all areas clean, organized, and functional.
    20. Perform set-up and disassembly of stage equipment, basketball floor, meeting room furniture (chairs, tables, carts), concourse set-ups, dressing rooms, and other event-related equipment.
    21. Support Guest Service staff by assisting with entry procedures, security screenings, and ticket-taking as required.
    22. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises. Frequent district-wide travel.
