TITLE: Building Groundskeeper/Maintenance
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly (Non-exempt)
PAY RANGE 11: $17.44 to $18.54 (based on experience and education)
LENGTH: 8 Hours daily/260 days yearly
LOCATION : Based on business need (Any location in the district)
REPORTS TO: Building Administration in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Facilities

SUMMARY: Maintains grounds of school property, performs cleaning and maintenance tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- A minimum of 6 months to 1 year experience in grounds keeping required
- Maintains valid Driver License with a clear driving record
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions/directions
- Certification in landscaping chemical use preferred.
- This position requires the employee to driver corporation vehicles. In accordance with Board policy and individual must be at least twenty-one (21) years old and have held a drivers license for at least three (3) years.
RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following.
- Maintains school grounds including cutting grass, weed eating, trimming trees and hedges, spraying, snow, ice and leaf removal and trash pick up.
- Maintains football, soccer, and softball fields to prescribed standards.
- Maintains and repairs outbuildings, fences, gates, walls, and walks.
- Performs basic maintenance on equipment such as lawn mower, weed cutters, edging tools, shears, spreader, and snow removal equipment.
- Scheduling appropriate times to plant, seed and prune.
- Projects and plans for the beautification of the school grounds
- Works from project plans, master landscaping and long-range plans, making judgments within the framework of good grounds keeping and safety practices
- Maintains, cleans, and ensures safety of buildings and premises, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and grassy areas; removes snow and salts or sands icy areas when needed.
- Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities such as filter and light bulb changes.
- Maintains and complies with safety regulations regarding equipment.
- Complies with safety regulations concerning the mixing, storage, and handling of chemical supplies.
- Uses proper procedures when cleaning body fluid spills.
- Empties trash containers; complies with local procedures and laws for the storage and disposal of trash and waste.
- Sets up tables and chairs for events and moves furniture and equipment as directed.
- Inspects fire extinguishers, playground equipment, and emergency lighting.
- Engaged in the general cleaning and up keep of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing windows.
- Answers building alarm calls
- Car rider arrival and dismissal setup and traffic direction.
- Other related duties as assigned by the administration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, to stand, to walk, to go up and down stairs, to climb ladders, to carry objects, to operate foot and hand controls, to reach above the head, and to bend and reach below the waist. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 or more pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
