Greenhouse Technician
Position Overview
The Controlled Environments Team seeks a motivated and responsible Greenhouse Technician to support research operations at our four-acre facility in Johnston, Iowa. In this role, you will contribute to the advancement of agricultural innovation by supporting daily greenhouse functions and research activities in a safe, professional, and compliant environment.
Key Responsibilities
Diligently shoot bag in corn pollination rooms daily
Tassel bag and pollinate corn 1-2 times per week
Prep and sort plant groupings with a high level of attention to detail
Transfer large plants on carts to correct room locations and specific locations within a room
Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material
Assist with plant care tasks, such as cotton pruning
Drive the Tug to move plants throughout the facility
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED required
Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences, or a related field preferred
Two or more years of relevant experience preferred
Valid Driver's License required
Good communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, positive attitude, attention to detail
Works well independently and with minimal supervision but also works well in groups
The ability to drive company vehicles, such as a tug
Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn internal research software
Capability to perform repetitive tasks, stand or sit for extended periods, and lift at least 30 lbs
Comfort working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with year-round pollen exposure

Schedule
Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Work 1-2 weekends or holidays every 3 months, with comp days
