The Mechanic I position supports the Operations Superintendent with District operations and maintenance activities including the following duties: Repairs District vehicles and heavy equipment; schedules and performs routine maintenance such as lubrications, filter, bulbs, and belts; services and repairs break systems; uses mechanics hand tools, diagnostic and test equipment; frequently uses a variety of power tools which could include the following: gas cutting torch, welder, soil compactor, concrete saw, impact wrench, compressor, jack hammer, saws-all, chain saw, brush mower, and weed cutters; operates a variety of motorized equipment which could include the following: pickup truck, boom truck, dump truck, vacuum truck, grader, dozer, backhoe, wheel loader and excavator; and maintains inventory of repair and replacement parts for vehicles, heavy equipment, and irrigation system components.
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent; Washington State Driver License with acceptable driving record; three years vehicle and equipment servicing; familiar with parts inventory controls and accountability.
Licenses/Certificates: Washington Class-A Commercial Driver License; ASE Brake Certification; First Aid with CPR; Traffic Flagging Certificate; Pesticide Applicators License (preferred).
Required Licenses and Other Requirements: Class-A Commercial Driver License with acceptable driving record; ASE Brake Certification (within 6 months of employment); First Aid with CPR; Traffic Flagging Certificate; Pesticide Applicators License (preferred); Three (3) years vehicle and equipment servicing; familiarity with parts inventory controls and accountability; High School Diploma or equivalent; acceptable criminal background record, and clean drug screen.
