Landscape Specialist I- Athletic Fields

  • Maintain turfgrass and perform general athletic field maintenance.
  • Mix and apply athletic field marking paint and marble dust to athletic and intramural fields, in accordance with NCAA regulations.
  • Install, repair, and perform general maintenance of irrigation systems.
Maintain turfgrass and perform general athletic field maintenance, to include: - 60%
  • Cut turfgrass to ensure proper heights on athletic fields, in compliance with NCAA regulations.
  • Cut grass to designated heights in surrounding areas and ditches.
  • Identify and report potential turf problems to supervisor.
  • Verticut, aerify, seed, apply fertilizers, spike, and slice athletic fields.
  • Remove debris from assigned area.

Apply field marking paint and marble dust to athletic and intramural fields in compliance with NCAA regulations. - 30%

I nstall, repair, and perform general maintenance of irrigation systems, to include: - 5%
  • Assist in the installation, repair, and general maintenance of irrigation systems.
  • Replace lines, swing joints, heads, and nozzles.

Remove snow and ice from campus sidewalks, streets, and parking lots, as assigned. - 5% Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
  • Six months experience in grounds maintenance, landscape/lawn maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture.
  • Six months athletic field experience preferred.
Special Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply NCAA provisions for proper field markings.
  • Ability to mix paints to ensure the brightness of lines.
  • Ability to formulate fertilizer.
Physical/Environmental Factors:
  • Lifting (Weight) - 50lbs
  • Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals
Working Hours and Days:
Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm Overtime Available
