Job Summary
Employees are under general supervision. This position includes but is not limited to performing all tasks associated with Grounds and Horticulture Maintenance. This position is assigned to a grounds zone crew on the ETSU campus which is responsible for all grounds maintenance associated with that zone. You must be able to work any shift or schedule. Overtime will be required as necessary. Facilities employees may be required to report at their regularly scheduled times during emergency closures or during inclement weather to perform essential functions including snow removal duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in ground maintenance activities
- Knowledge of basic landscaping procedures.
- Ability to use and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and other related equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to instruct others of lower classification.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
- Ability to apply pesticides
- Knowledge of materials and equipment used in Horticulture and Grounds maintenance.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time.
Required Qualifications
- Must have and maintain a valid TN Driver License
Preferred Qualifications
- Grounds Maintenance Experience
- High school diploma or GED
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor for extended periods of time
- Frequent exposure to unfavorable weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.)
- Repetitive physical activities including lifting, bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Routine climbing of ladders and working at various heights
