This position is responsible for the care and maintenance of trees and landscaping.
The Parks Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include tree maintenance standards, state statutes, federal regulations, ISA best management practices, ANSI standards, OSHA regulations, and department and district policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Updates and maintains database of city trees.
- Develops tree treatment and maintenance schedules.
- Trains, assigns, and directs personnel.
- Enters data into tree inventory, work order system, and employee timesheet programs.
- Submits Tree City USA applications.
- Plans and organizes annual Arbor Day events, Christmas tree recycling, and other programs and activities.
- Evaluates tress for property owners and advises course of treatment.
- Performs tree removal, pruning, planting, mulching, fertilizing, watering and treatment functions.
- Performs snow removal functions.
- Assists other city divisions with parades and other events.
- Performs related duties.
- Knowledge of arboricultural and urban forestry practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, and methods use in the planting, pruning, and maintenance of trees.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of landscaping design and maintenance.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in the operation of variety of tree maintenance tools and equipment.
- Skill in prioritizing and planning.

- The work consists of varied duties in the maintenance of the citys trees. Inclement weather contributes to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to manage the citys tree population. Successful performance contributes to the provision of safe and attractive environment for the general public.

- Contacts are typically with coworkers, contractors, vendors, state forestry personnel, USDA personnel, and the general public.
- Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, motivate persons, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
- The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and machinery with moving parts. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school diploma or GED.
- Possession of or obtain within six (6) months of employment and maintain a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) issued by the State of Wyoming.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain within three (3) years of employment an International Society of Arboriculture certification.
